Precision bearing solutions for wind turbines

подробность

Wind Turbine Bearings are critical components accounting for approximately 10% of turbine cost, with demanding technical requirements and a design life of 20+ years.

Key Applications:

- Main Shaft Bearings: Turbines below 1.5MW commonly use Spherical Roller Bearings; larger 2MW+ units trend toward double-row tapered Roller Bearings or cylindrical-plus-thrust combinations to handle complex bending moments and axial forces from the rotor.

- Yaw bearings: Single or double-row four-point contact ball Slewing Bearings with internal or external gear teeth drive nacelle rotation into the wind, requiring low-speed, heavy-load, weather-resistant performance.

- Pitch bearings: Slewing bearings — one per blade — adjust blade angle of attack to control load and power output.

- Gearbox bearings: Planetary gears, intermediate shafts, and high-speed shafts use Cylindrical Roller Bearings, Tapered Roller Bearings, and Deep Groove Ball Bearings respectively. Gearbox bearing failure is a leading cause of wind turbine downtime.

- Generator bearings: High-speed ends use cylindrical roller bearing plus Deep Groove Ball Bearing combinations, with insulated bearings or ceramic hybrid bearings to prevent electrical erosion.

Selection Considerations:

Wind energy bearings demand extreme reliability with L10 life exceeding 130,000 hours. Materials require ultra-high cleanliness and specialized heat treatment. Seals must resist salt spray and dust, while pitch and yaw bearings need surface corrosion protection.
